The latest from Motherhood Uncensored
Hey folks,
This email will look a little different as I’ve swapped from sending via Motherhood-Uncensored.org to sending via Substack. Don’t worry, it’s not a prelude to asking for subscription fees!
What has been happening and what’s coming up?
New stories
We’ve had some great stories shared recently- do check them out if you missed them. In the Woods by Amara Finch explores life, loss, nature and recognising the limits of our power. In Yes They’re Still Waking
explores how all consuming attempts at sleep management can become, the overwhelming amount of conflicting advice and pressure to hit milestones and the uncomfortable truth that it might be out of our control. If you’re interested in writing for Motherhood Uncensored check out our submission guidelines.

Our competition and upcoming book
Thanks to everyone who participated in or supported our motherhood writing competition last year. Hundreds of people entered and thousands read and voted on the submissions. We’re really excited to be publishing the most popular entries in a book, due to launch in March 2025!
This book could do a lot of good, breaking taboos and helping people feel less isolated. It’s packed with powerful stories about the impact of motherhood on our relationships, work, health and identity; our dilemmas about becoming mothers; fertility, loss and grief; and inequality and injustice.
Profits will be shared with Make Birth Better and PND Awareness and Support (PANDAS).
If we’re connected on Instagram we would really appreciate any help you can give spreading the word once we start sharing some snippets and the cover over coming weeks.
Events
Stay tuned on this but a few contributing authors are starting to organise events in their local areas to help launch the book. So far we’re hoping to have one in Leicester and one in East Sussex but hopefully there will be more to come- do reach out if you’d like to run an event in your area too!
